  REYNOLDS

Ten Reasons To Loath the Clinton Campaign...
Even If You Are a Republican

by John Mark Reynolds [author, academic] 4/24/08

Yes, I know.

As an evil Republican, I should be delighted at the continued destruction of the Democrat Party, which Pennsylvania means will continue.

Hoop-lah.

As a fight it is tedious, for the nation it is grievous, and as theater it is monotonous. When will it end?

Only when the Clintons give up on a return to power.

It is possible that Dem politicians will know that now is the time for all good people to come to aid of their party.

Don’t bet on it.

Imagine you are a left tackle in NFL still unsigned. If that is too hard, imagine that you are the only oboe player in California still unsigned by a school. If that is even harder, imagine that you are the only uncommitted voter in a high school election. How much attention would you get?

Wouldn’t you be sorry that you signed up too soon?

Do you really think most politicians, who crave attention like college students in Finals Week crave Red Bull, will pass all this up to listen to Howard “The Scream” Dean?

I should be delighted that their cynical enabling of the Clinton psychodrama has finally descended on the Democrats, and the justice of it is satisfying, but sadly, as is always the case with the Clintons, watching them destroy something else (this time the Democrat Party) brings damage to us all.

Republicans, like the Democrats of the Nineties, may be tempted to “use” the Clintons. They will, after all, be unable to harm us, right?

It is a classic error to fail to finish off your opponent when you can. Sadly, Senator Obama, a bit of a Sixties Bambi, is unable to finish anything this political season. Bad company corrupts good morals and the Clinton’s, flush with Red Chinese money, are bad company.

We better come to his aide and finish the Clinton dynasty while we can.

We should refuse to enable the Clintons, if only for their own good, since everyone who has ever tried to use the Clintons ends up being used by them to their destruction.

Here are ten reasons that this Republican cannot rejoice in the state of the political race. I am happy that it helps my guy, but not that happy.

Ten Reasons to Loath the Clinton Campaign, Even if You Are a Republican

First, Senator Obama seems like a decent person, albeit a leftist, which is something nobody has ever said about either of the Clintons. They put the M in political TMI.

Second, doing anything to win means that the “race card” is being played hard. This is not good for our nation.

Third, at forty-four, I should have the opportunity to vote just once for President without a Clinton or Bush on the ballot. She continues to perpetuate the aristocracy of mediocrity and deny me that dream.

Fourth, Senator Obama has bad friends, while Senator Clinton has a bad husband. Senator Obama has political allies who were terrorists, but Senator Clinton has a husband who pardons them. The Clinton family is in the pay of some of the worst regimes in the world.

Fifth, though both are pretty far left-of-center, they have different views of the voters. Senator Obama assumes that we can be persuaded, but Senator Clinton assumes that we can only be convinced by an appeal to our worst instincts. Obama is clueless and condescending about the way many of us live, but the Clinton’s are clued in and despise and manipulate us.

Sixth, Senator Obama is telling America what he thinks is true, while Senator Clinton is telling us what she thinks we want to hear. American politics does not need much more cynicism.

Seventh, Senator Clinton, famous for her spouse, is setting back the happy day when a woman will be President on her merits.

Eighth, Senator Clinton’s continued campaign means seeing and hearing more of Dick Morris.

Ninth, Senator Clinton gives some of the most grating speeches of any candidate for President in my lifetime. If she wins more primaries, then we will have to hear more of them.

Finally, any chance, however small, that William Jefferson Clinton will get near the Oval Office and power should horrify us all. ExileStreet
